Course Description: Continues to build proficiency as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Content-based instruction develops communicative language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through readings and discussions of authentic Hispanic cultural and literary texts. For students with two or more years of Spanish or an intermediate level of Spanish language proficiency.
Course Narrative: In SPAN 301 Composition and Oral Practice, I improved my communication skills, both written and oral just how the name of the class indicates. I improved my skills through a series of activities based on Latin American literature and some social issues that were happening in the Hispanic community. I also completed a group project where we selected a topic that we felt passionate about and we had to present it to the class. My presentation 301/Presentacion helped me understand a little more about a topic that is currently very sensitive and that is the issue of gender inequality and women's empowerment. In this presentation we talked about several artists who support this cause. The artists use their voice and public figure to send a message to society for a new change to gender equality. I would like to continue working on my writing and oral skills in the future since I would like to work in education and this type of course helped me to continue developing my skills.
